Sydney Cooking School was created by experienced Chefs Brett Deverall and Camilla Baker.
These two have combined to share their love of cooking with you in a fun and relaxed learning environment.

Brett Deverall
Brett has been a Chef for 27 years, the last 17 years as an Executive Chef mainly in Sydney. He was Executive Chef at Mezzaluna in Potts Point for 8 years followed by 4 years at Sails on Lavender Bay.
Brett did his apprenticeship in WA before going to London and Paris for 4 years. Brett started at the Capital Hotel in Knightsbridge (1 Michelin Star) then moved to Paris and worked at La Vieille Fontaine (2 Michelin Stars) Brett was then offered a most sought after position at Raymond Blanc’s exclusive Le Manoir Aux Quat Saisons in Oxford. After working there for over a year he worked as one of the personal Chefs to the CEO of Shell Oil.
Brett’s passion is teaching. He has taught many great young Apprentices that have gone on to be Executive Chefs in Sydney. He holds a Certificate 4 in Training & Assessment, and is a qualified TAFE teacher. Brett was a Part-time teacher at East Sydney and then Ultimo TAFE for 5 years.
Brett brings a wealth of international experience, with many years of French cooking, 8 years as Executive Chef of a top Italian restaurant.
Now Brett is here to teach a variety of classes and custom designed Private Chef Table dinners.
Camilla Baker
Camilla has worked as a professional Chef for over nineteen years. After training in Tasmania—and winning Apprentice of the Year in 1994—she worked her way up the east coast of Australia from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast, increasing her knowledge of food in a variety of establishments from fine dining restaurants to casual cafés including the Sheraton Noosa Resort, Marchetti’s Tuscan Grill, and Zest in Food.
Since 1997 she has traveled the world, living and working in London and Edinburgh in the U.K., Florence in Italy, and Chicago in the United States. Her CV includes stints in Terence Conran’s Great Eastern Hotel in London (now called Andaz) as well as Campagnola and Union Pizzeria in Chicago. She has also visited countries across Europe, Southeast Asia and North Africa, submerging herself in different cultures and food preparation—tasting and learning the art of authentic home cookery across the globe.
From 2005 she has taught private cooking classes and wine-pairing evenings in clients’ homes in Chicago, Florence, and Sydney.
